On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. In vignette after hilarious vignette, we are introduced to "those good and crazy people," his married friends, as Robert weighs the pros and cons of married life. In the end, he realizes being alone is "alone, not alive." This innovative work by Stephen Sondheim is considered by many to have inaugurated the modern era of musical theatre.

Center Theatre at the MJCCA is thrilled to present RENT - School Edition, an adaptation of Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical, RENT, based loosely on Puccini's opera La Bohème, running July 27 – August 1, 2010. The stage production is brought to life in Center Theatre’s beautiful Morris & Rae Frank Theatre.
Recommended for ages 13 to adult **
Center Theatre’s Teen Summer Stock Production of RENT - School Edition follows a year in the lives of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians living the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New York's East Village, living under the shadow of AIDS, with both its physical and emotional complications. RENT - School Edition is about a community of people, each with their own quirks and problems, finding a way to live together. They are individuals who support each other’s differences while striving to become successful members of society by doing something they believe in.
Classic songs include: "La Vie Boheme," "I Should Tell You," "Seasons of Love," and "I'll Cover You." RENT - School Edition will be directed by Brian Kimmel, and produced by MJCCA Assistant Director of Arts & Culture Dina Shadwell.
Howard Hyman, Chairman of the MJCCA’s Arts & Culture Committee says, “We at Center Theatre understand the subject matter Jonathan Larson chose to address contains mature topics. But these are realistic, contemporary, relevant topics about a group of young people trying to discover who they are, what they stand for, and who they can trust. And we welcome this award-winning show to the Center Theatre stage.”

One-Man Comedy Hit: Steve Solomon's “STILL in Therapy”
Comedy Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta

Time: 8:00 pm
Location: MJCCA Center Theatre: 5342 Tilly Mill Rd
Center Theatre at the MJCCA presents Steve Solomon’s ALL NEW SHOW – The Hilarious One-Man Comedy Hit: “STILL in Therapy”
Following on the heels of the incredibly successful Off-Broadway Comedy Hit, “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish, and I’m in Therapy,” written and performed by Steve Solomon, Center Theatre at the MJCCA is thrilled to present the next hysterical installment, “STILL in Therapy.” Turning his lifetime experiences with an Italian mom, a Jewish dad, and unbelievable (yet universally familiar) family members into a one-man comedy, Solomon receives rave reviews and great audience acclaim throughout the country. Running from August 5 - 15, 2010, “STILL in Therapy” will be featured in Center Theatre’s beautiful Morris & Rae Frank Theatre.
The hilarity continues as “STILL in Therapy” takes us back with Solomon, from his baby years with his twin sister right up to the present. We’ll meet: Uncle Willie; Stuttering Cousin Bob; Demented Cousin Kenny; Solomon’s new therapist; Cousin Sal (and Sal’s parole officer); and a myriad of astounding characters we know, love and tolerate from our own families; each one brought to life on stage by Steve Solomon using his gift for creating voices dialects and wacky sound effects that only add to the hilarity of each story. “STILL in Therapy” is the next outrageous chapter in his quest to defend himself against those people whose sole purpose in life is to add chaos to his.
Reserved seating tickets are $20 - $25. Student, senior and MJCCA Member discounts available.
Call the Center Theatre Box Office at 678.812.4002, or visit www.CenterTheatreAtlanta.org to purchase on-line.
